Job purpose

To provide care and conduct activities and wellness programs for the elderly in a center-based setting.

Duties and responsibilities

Plan and conduct activities for the elderly in that promotes health and wellness both one-to-one and group setting

Supervise and assist elderly to participate in exercise programme safely

Provide assistance to elderly in basic hygiene needs, Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and mobility

Carry out simple assessment and documentation on a daily basis

Assist in monitoring of vital signs

Monitor elderly who needs the supervision for their medication consumption

Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness of activity areas and equipment

Maintain the inventory of equipment used

Acts as effective member of the SCC team

Consult available therapist(s) to provide better care for the elderly

Supports and contributes to the development of the centre

Active continuing education and training

Any other duties assigned by the Centre Manager and/or Allied Health Professionals

Qualifications

HMI/ITE/WSQ related study in Healthcare Support

Experiences in working in other Intermediate long term care sector or relevant experiences working with the elderly or disabled is preferred

Working conditions

He/she must enjoy working with elderly clients with physical disabilities and/or dementia in center-based setting

Able to multi-task and work in a physical environment that is dynamic

Able to work with a team and adaptable to the potential need of change of job tasks

Good communication and interpersonal skills are required and the ability to converse in major dialects is an advantage

Physically fit to assist in transfer and mobility of the elderly
